Description
Description | "SAGA EU SLATE With this slate, SAGA FILM wants to comfort and increase its European and international position through quality co-productions as well as distribution partnerships, i.e. France, Spain, The Netherlands, Luxembourg, … For almost 35 years of its existence, SAGA FILM has always favoured co-production and, over the years, a number of cross-border collaborations have been strengthened. The fact remains that it is essential to constantly renew the partnerships, according to the evolution of the market, and this slate will strongly contribute to this objective. Our growing position within the European and international markets depends not only on the quality of our productions, but on the quality of our collaborations as well. Which is why great care is taken when choosing our partners. But above all, this slate affirms our commitment to excellent storytelling – at the end of the day, regardless of their nationality, audiences want a great story. WE SHALL MEET AGAIN, LING’S DIARY, DISCO BOX and YAËL (short film), the projects presented in this slate for your examination, are ambitious and powerful stories, told in an innovative way. They rely either on their culture and regional roots, or, on the contrary, they unfold ""elsewhere"" while telling strong and universal feelings. SAGA FILM is adopting a new and effective strategy when developing content: thinking ‘glocal’. In other words, be global while keeping the story’s local roots (whatever the local is) and talent embedded in its fabric. This, we believe, will ensure that audiences around the world will find the content interesting. This new global paradigm is why we’re aggressively following this massive production trend. We understand that we can never speak equally to all cultures and countries; we can however, exploit our local knowledge and talents to make our work interesting enough to become global. This season’s slate reflects this approach through the powerful stories we’ve chosen to tell." |
