Description

The development objective of the Sahel Women~^!!^s Empowerment and Demographic Dividend Project for Africa is to increase women and adolescent girls~^!!^ empowerment and their access to quality reproductive, child, and maternal health services in selected areas of the participating countries, including the recipients’ territory, and to improve regional knowledge generation and sharing as well as regional capacity and coordination. The project comprises of three components. The first component, generate demand for reproductive, maternal, neonatal and child health, and nutrition (RMNCHN) services by promoting social and behavioral changes and empowering women and girls aim is to increase demand for RMNCHN services through: (i) better awareness of the populations on these services, and (ii) supporting the empowerment of adolescent girls and women. The second component, strengthen regional capacity for availability of RMNCHN commodities and qualified health workers objective is to strengthen the regional capacity to support increased country access to critical inputs (commodities and qualified staff) required to provide RMNCHN services. The third component, foster political commitment and capacity for policy making will strengthen advocacy and political commitment on RMNCHN at regional and national levels.
