Saint Andrews - Market Square Rehabilitation - Phase 1

This project consists of rehabilitating the Town of Saint Andrews’ Market Square to address erosion and structural integrity of the square due to continuous wave action. The scope of work on the market square includes: removing existing wood cribs and decking and replacing them with armour stone; replacing the existing seawall with an armour stone and crushed rock to reenforce and stop further erosion; and raisings the square by one metre to mitigate future sea level rise. This project is phase 1 of a 2-phased project to rehabilitate the market square and wharf. This project will increase the structural capacity to adapt to climate change impacts and extreme weather, as well as provide residents and tourists with continued, safe, access to the historical and cultural community hub.
