Description

St. Theresa Point First Nation is a remote, fly in community located approximately 610 kilometers Northeast of Winnipeg. The project entails retrofitting the St. Theresa Point First Nation Daycare building with a grid tied solar photovoltaic system. The 50.6 kW solar PV system is designed to reduce our carbon emissions and overall carbon footprint on Mother Earth. The system is an important step to improving energy reliability for the building and community. St. Theresa Point First Nation Daycare center is a very important part of the community, the day care allows for parents, both moms and dads, to be able to go to work or school knowing their little ones are under safe care. STP has a population of over 5000 people many of whom have younger children. The solar system will create ~55,900 kWh or 98% of the electricity requirements, lowering operating expenses by ~$6000/year that can to go towards equipment, toys, lunches and even additional staff to meet the constant demand.
