Description | Salamanca-Leon highway was a 77.6km tollroad in central Guanajuato state. It will link the city of Leon with the municipalities of Silao, Romita, Irapuato y Salamanca, with access and exit to inner harbor of Guanajuato. Work was planned in two stretches; the first running over 28.7km from Salamanca to Irapuato and the second over 48.9km to Leon. Twenty-five bidders were interested and registered for the bidding process fulfilling all economic and technical criteria required. 16 of them participated in the signing of drawings and finally only three bids were open, being the consortiums: - Pavimentos Laguna, Grupo Hermes y Grupo Profezac - Ascendi Mexico, Construcciones Rubau y Constructora Vise - Coconal, Operadora de Autopistas y México Constructora Industrial In March 2011, Mexico's transport and communications ministry (SCT) awarded a contract to build, operate, and maintain the Salamanca-Leon highway for 30-years to the consortium comprised of Coconal, Operadora de Autopistas and Mexico Constructora Industrial (CONCESIONARIA DE INFRAESTRUCTURA DEL BAJIO S.A. DE C.V.). There was not available information about % ownership of each of them. The consotium leader was Coconal. Total investment was $397 million (4.7 billion pesos). No evidence about financial closure but according to a press release as of March 27, 2013 23% of civil works were executed. Needs further research.
