Key components include:A 15.4 km double-barrel, single-track tunnel, located roughly 100 meters from the existing single-track tunnel, which will be decommissioned after completion.Excavation using four tunnel boring machines (TBMs).Construction of nine railway bridges and two viaducts.Development of a new station in Montalto Uffugo to serve the nearby university campus in Rende.Led by Webuild Group in consortium with Ghella, Pizzarotti, and SELI, employing up to 1,500 personnel.The project aims to enhance rail connectivity between the Tyrrhenian coast and inland Calabria, reduce travel times, and support economic growth in southern Italy. |
