Description

Description

"What's Up Films is pleased to present the series project ""Sambre"" (6x52’) as part of its application for co-development support to Europe Media Creative Program 2021. Inspired by real events that took place from 1988 to 2018 between North of France and Belgium, this series highlights the slow awareness of our modern society towards sexual violence, from the early 80's until the #metoo era. Europe Media Creative will allow us to ensure a project development in line with the strong and urgent social issue that ""Sambre"" explores, and the originality of its narrative construction. With the support of the program, the authors will be able to work in the best possible conditions by meeting the right people and having access to all the documentation that such a subject implies, both in France and in Belgium. We will do some location scouting between the two countries and start the creation of visual and marketing elements. With this creative material and the universality of our story, we will seek national and international partners with whom we will complete a financing plan that meets our expectations. Also, since we are working on a story based on real events, this funding will also enable us to obtain the necessary legal support. We estimate the number of professionals who will benefit from the proposal to be around thirty: the authors, the director, the documentalists and investigators, the production manager, the scouting crew, and the teams of What's Up Films and our co-producers."
