Description

The Colombian company Tecnologica Intercontinental (Ticsa) was awarded the 15-year contract to build and operate the wastewater treatment plant named PTAR San Antonio (Uruapan, state of Michoacan). The treatment plant was set to have a capacity of 300 liters/second (25.9 m3/day), benefiting more than 370,000 people. In November 2009, the sponsor established the special purpose company Ecosistemas de Uruapan S.A. de C.V. to lead the project. Detailed information on the project award process led by the state government was not available. The investment was estimated at US$ 11.2 million (Pesos 178.1 million), partially funded by the Federal government (value unknown). Construction works commenced in 2014. By August 2015, 98% of the construction works had been concluded. In May 2013, the Colombian company EPM acquired 80% of Ticsa's shares for US$ 113 million. The remaining 20% of the shares were held by the Mexican family Primelles.
