Description

Description

The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) reported that nearly 15 million people used its Muni Metro services in March 2026, reaching the highest ridership levels since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. This ridership is about 85% of the pre-pandemic levels from March 2019 and represents an 8% increase compared to the previous year. The agency attributes the increase partly to popular community events and has approved a two-year operating budget of over $3.1 billion for fiscal years 2026-2027 and 2027-2028, supported by cost-cutting measures and potential sales tax measures.
