Description

This project involves the development of Phase 2 of the San Isidro solar photovoltaic plant located in Malpaisillo municipality, León Department, Nicaragua. The 14 MW facility (16.33 MWdc) will generate approximately 33.2 GWh of clean energy annually, equivalent to the electricity consumption of 58,000 people. The plant will also feature a 1.1 MWh storage facility to enhance the reliability of electricity supply. The initiative is led by Nordic Solar S.A., which has structured the project under a 20-year power purchase agreement with ENATREL, the national transmission company. Financing is supported by ElectriFI and BIO-Invest, which together are providing a total of $10.7 million in funding. ElectriFI's contribution of $1.88 million includes subordinated capital to catalyze further investment. Total investment costs stand at $12.5 million.
