The project proposes the installation of various Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) elements in San Joaquin County, including Changeable Message Signs (CMSs), Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) Cameras, Roadside Weather Information System (RWIS), Vehicle Classification Stations (VCS), and replacement of Microwave Vehicle Detection (MVD) with Loop Detector systems, Single Mode Fiber Optic (SMFO) cables, and Communication Conduits (CC). These elements will be connected to the Caltrans Stockton Transportation Management Center (TMC) to monitor the state highway system and provide real-time roadway and weather conditions to the public.
