San Juan County Marine Transportation Services Pilot Project

completed

The project was a pilot to provide marine transportation services including emergency barge and foot-passenger transportation during disruptions to Washington State Ferry service, as well as daily travel to and from the mainland (Anacortes). Services were provided at no cost to passengers, subsidized by the County's emergency funding from the Governor's Office. The project included daily passenger service by San Juan Safaris, emergency interisland passenger service by Outer Island Excursions, and standby emergency barge service by Pintail Marine (not mobilized).
