The project involves the construction of a 131.1 MW wind farm in San Juan de Marcona, in the Ica region of Peru.The wind farm will be made up of 23 5.7MW wind turbines that will produce 608GWh, enough to meet the energy needs of 478,000 households.The project will be connected to the Peruvian national grid through a new 33km 220kV transmission line and is expected to reduce CO² emissions by 275,000 tonnes a year. The sponsor - ACCIONA Energía, will reinvest a portion of the project’s annual revenues in programs to support education, social initiatives and environmental stewardship in local communities, as part of its Social Impact Management program. The total project cost is $180 million and the wind farm is expected to be operational by the end of 2023.
