Description | Portia Management Services, overseas port consultancy unit of Mersey Docks and Harbour Co. and Clarke Chapman, materials handling subsidiary of Rolls-Royce, took over the management of a port terminal from the steel company Siderar in Oct. 1996. The San Nicolas, Buenos Aires province, port expects investment of US$ 30 million to modernize the facility. Siderar will pay a management fee of US$ 10 million per year and expects to save US$ 20 mil over the 12-year concession term, since the winning consortium will curb operation costs. San Nicolas has a turnover of 4 million tons of mineral ores, a figure to rise to 4.5 million tons of cargo over the next 4 years, and 5.7 million after year 2000. San Nicolas also exports the output from Siderar. Profits from exploiting the facility to third companies will be shared. None None |
