The project involves the design, financing, construction, operation, and maintenance of the San Ramon Newport through a Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) arrangement.The Project is envisioned as the main trade, commerce, and industrial center of the Zamboanga Peninsula Region (Region IX) and as the first freeport in Mindanao. The Project consists of the development of a greenfield port and the design and construction of inland berth facilities, quays, breakwaters, roll-on, roll off (RoRo) ramps, excavation of harbor basin, as well as the establishment of cargo handling facilities such as container yards, bulk terminals, warehouses, passenger terminals and support facilities, such as ship-to-shore cranes, cargo handling equipment, and terminal operating systems. The Project site has a land area of 21.55 hectares. The construction, as well as operation and maintenance (O&M) of the Port, will be under a 35-year concession period.
