Description

Description

AC Milan and Inter have completed the €197 million purchase of the iconic San Siro stadium and surrounding land from the City of Milan, ending 77 years of municipal ownership. The deal includes the surrounding real estate complex, enabling the clubs to plan a modern 71,500-seat replacement stadium west of the existing site. The redevelopment project is led by architects Sir Norman Foster and David Manica. The new stadium is expected to be completed before Euro 2032 and will be one of Italy's venues for the tournament. The current San Siro will continue to be used until the new stadium is ready, and it will also host the opening ceremony of the 2026 Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics before partial demolition begins. However, the sale is under investigation for alleged bid-rigging by Milan's Public Prosecutor's Office.
