Description | This project involves the construction of a multiuse bridge over the Sandy River to connect the Whistle Stop Trail to Prescott Field. The bridge will be built on existing abutments and a central pier from a former rail bridge removed in 1989. The project aims to provide a safe crossing for snowmobilers and other recreational users and link downtown Farmington to trail systems throughout Franklin County and beyond. The estimated total cost is up to $4.2 million, with $500,000 proposed to be borrowed by the town and $200,000 from the Downtown Tax Increment Financing District. The remaining funds are expected from federal, state, and private sources. |
