The provision of municipal and social infrastructure is being promoted as part of the development cooperation programme Improvement of decentralised public services in the Republic of Moldova. The aim of the development cooperation module is to improve wastewater disposal for the population of Cahul in terms of access and disposal safety, as well as to strengthen environmental and resource protection. In order to ensure sustainable operation, the technical and economic capacities of the municipal utility company Apa Canal Cahul (ACC) are being strengthened through an accompanying measure. The measures aim to contribute to improving the living conditions of the population, in particular the health situation. The target group includes all of the population of Cahul who are also connected to the wastewater disposal system (approx. 10,000 people). The project is closely linked to the development cooperation module Water supply and disposal in the Cahul district (BMZ 2015 68 344) and is to be carried out in parallel.
