The project involves delivering a comprehensive upgrade of the Ruta 57 corridor through a 45-year concession that will expand capacity, improve safety, and modernize connectivity between Santiago, Colina and Los Andes. It includes widening existing segments to dual or three lanes, enhancing junctions and service roads, building new access points and interchanges, and adding complementary infrastructure such as service areas, pedestrian overpasses and cycle paths. The tender also anticipates improvements to connections with Ruta 5 and a possible new alignment toward Ruta 60, as well as the option of constructing a second tunnel parallel to the Túnel Chacabuco to ease traffic flows across the mountainous section. Overall, the initiative aims to meet growing demand and deliver a more efficient, resilient and high-standard transport corridor.
