In December 2015, Fibria Celulose S.A. (Brazil) was awarded the contract to expand, rehabilitate and operate the Terminal Macuco, specialized in cellulose, paper and general cargo, located at Santos Port, Brazil. Besides Fibria Celulose, only another company took part in the bidding process: Eldorado Brasil Celulose S.A. The bidding criteria was the highest amount for the concession rights. The winning bid was US$ 33.4 million (BRL 115 million). The 25-year contract was signed in September 2016, and the sponsor established the special purpose company Fibria Terminal de Celulose de Santos SPE S.A. to lead the project. Investment in the project was estimated at US$ 48 million (BRL 160 million). In addition, the sponsor committed to pay a monthly lease fee of US$ 110.9 thousand (BRL 370 thousand). The terminal is expected to reach a capacity of 1800 thousand tons of cellulose/year, once operations resume by the second semester of 2017.
