On 3 October 2014 the National Electric Energy Agency authorized the generation of the first unit of the plant, with a capacity of 30.7MW. The plant has the capacity to process 1,243,876 tonnes of biomass per year. Chemtex, a division of Gruppo Mossi & Ghisolfi (M&G), provideded EPC services and technical advice for the project. Yokogawa América do Sul - a subsidiary of Yokogawa Electric Corporation supplied the control system and field instruments for the facility.
