Description

This project involves the construction of Sao Paulo Metro Line 8 & Line 9, located in Sao Paulo, State of Sao Paulo. The total length of the project is 74.8km and includes the construction of 42 stations that would serve around one million passengers per day. The concessionaire of this initiative is Metropolitan Train System of São Paulo SA, owned by the sponsors CCR Group with 80% share and the Ruasinvest Group with 20% share. Most of the resources will be dedicated to renewing the rolling stock, with the purchase of 36 new compositions, totaling 288 new cars, which will be manufactured by Alstom Brasil at its plant in Taubaté (SP). In addition, there are investments in new signaling and power supply systems, as well as in civil works to adapt stations, rails, mechanical workshops and patios. Th? improvement will be reflected in the increase in the average speed of the trains (from 39 km/h to 43 km/h and from 41 km/h to 43 km/h for lines 8 and 9, respectively) and in the reduction of the interval between trains. The total project cost is $880m (R$4.6bn), of which $478m (R$2.5bn) will be released in the form of infrastructure debentures, $162m (R$850m) are provided from BNDES Finem credit system, and $240m (R$1.25bn) also from BNDES in the form of backstop sub-credit guarantee to cover future financing.
