Sao Tome and Principe - National Land Use Plan Study Project

This project aims to carry out a study required for the preparation of the National Land Use Plan (PNAT) of Sao Tome and Principe. It fits into a broader context of the African Development Bank Group’s support to the country to address development and land use challenges aimed to reduce poverty and sustainably improve the populations’ living conditions. The study will run for a total of 15 months. The project’s total cost is estimated at UA 2.16 million, of which UA 1.185 million in foreign currency (54.9%) and UA 0.975 million in local currency (45.1%). In the long term, it should contribute to: (i) boosting sustainable economic growth; (i) strengthening national cohesion; (iii) preserving national, territorial and district identities; (iv) reducing spatial and social inequalities; (v) defining and orienting the use of space and land at both national and districts levels; (vi) promoting potential economic growth sectors (agriculture, tourism, etc.) within a sustainable environment.
