Saras MK II Indigenous Regional Aircraft

The Saras MK II is a 19-seater indigenous regional passenger aircraft developed by CSIR-National Aerospace Laboratories (CSIR-NAL) in Bengaluru, India. The design phase has been successfully completed, and the project is moving to prototype manufacturing, followed by ground testing and flight trials. The aircraft is designed to serve underserved regional routes with short runways and smaller airports, supporting the Government of India's UDAN scheme for regional connectivity. It incorporates advanced technologies such as Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A-67A turboprop engines, a pressurised cabin, digital glass cockpit, advanced avionics, autopilot, and command-by-wire flight controls. The project emphasizes indigenous manufacturing and aims to reduce dependence on imported aircraft, contributing to the Atmanirbhar Bharat mission.
