Sarasota County Breeze Transit Route Cuts

completed

Sarasota County has discontinued two Breeze Transit bus routes: one that served the Sarasota Bradenton International Airport and another that was the only public transit route on and off Siesta Key. The cuts aim to reduce general fund spending by about $5 million to address a projected budget shortfall. The elimination of the Siesta Key route may make access to the island more difficult, although trolleys within the island will continue to operate. Alternative routes to the airport are available via other bus routes.
