Description | The Saravanampatti flyover is a proposed four-lane flyover at the Saravanampatti Junction on Sathyamangalam Road in Coimbatore. It was sanctioned by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) on March 9, 2022, at an estimated cost of 8048000000 INR under the Annual Plan 2021-2022. The project aims to reduce accidents and improve traffic flow at a junction identified as a black spot. The project was delayed due to awaiting approval from Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) for a proposed metro rail corridor, but with the metro rail proposal no longer under consideration and the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) now overseeing the road, activists urge the revival of the flyover project instead of an at-grade junction improvement. |
