Information Water Resources-AP has come up with Sardar Gouthu Latchanna Thotapalli Barrage Project with a ticket size of 1023.24 INR Crores. This project in Irrigation sub-sector involves The current status of the project is Notice to Proceed and is being developed through the EPC route. Economic/Social Impact of the Project Thotapalli Barrage Project envisages the construction of an 8.72 km long earth dam upstream of the existing Thotapalli Barrage to stabilize the existing ayacut of 25,900 ha and provide additional irrigation facilities to a command area of 48,563 ha in Vizianagaram and Srikakulam districts of Andhra Pradesh. The project was approved for Rs. 415.87 Crore by Planning Commission vide Lr No.2[304]/2003 WR dt 20.3.2006. The project was included under AIBP during FY 2005 06 and it is being monitored by M &A [A.P] Dte, CWC, Hyderabad. The revised estimated cost of the project of Rs. 774.91 crore was accorded Administrative approval vide GOMs No. 78 dated 05.11.2012. The latest revised estimate for Rs. 1127.64 Cr [AIBP Rs. 1023.243] is approved under FTPC. Project Components under AIBP a. Earth dam of total length 8720 m comprising 4197 m long Left earth dam, 117 m long gated Spillway, 2946 m long Right earth dam and 520 m long Right side dyke. The FRL of the pond is kept at EL 105.0 m to provide a live storage of 71.05 MCM. b. Left head sluice with two vents of size 2.00 m x 2.25 m, Right head sluice with one vent of size 1.40 m x 1.50 m and Right head regulator with two vents of size 4.30 m x 2.50 m. c. 117.89 km long main canal on right flank with head discharge capacity of 34.391 cumec. d. Left side link canal for a length of 540 m from proposed left side head sluice at km 4.05 of the dam to stabilize the existing ayacut of 12626 Ha and Right side link canal for a length of 210 m from proposed right side head sluice at km 6.68 of the dam to the existing ayacut of 13274 Ha.
