Description

Description

The objective of the project is to replace 3500 m of the original 300 mm steel pipeline in the east section of this regional system. This pipeline was originally installed in 1967 and has significantly deteriorated and reached the end of its useful life. The new pipeline will use either 350 mm DR 18 PVC or 450 mm DR 9 HDPE. This work will include new crossings under CN right-ofway, Highway 11 and local rural municipality (RM) roads as well as new customer manholes and connections. This pipeline system originates in the City of Saskatoon. It supplies water to 8,034 people in the communities of Allan, Bradwell, Clavet, Elstow RM of Blucher, RM of Corman Park, and 21 rural water utility groups including the Lost River Utility, Highway 41 Water Utility, and the Dundurn Rural Water Utility. These rural water utilities in turn serve Dundurn, Hanley, Thode, Shields and many small country residential developments. The pipeline also provides service to commercial and industrial customers such as the Cargill canola crushing facility near Clavet. Replacement of this infrastructure will ensure safe, reliable, and sustainable potable water service to the people on the system and will add capacity in one of the fastest growing areas of the province to continue to support future residential and commercial growth.
