Description

Description

Hyundai E&C lets its legacy of construction in Middle East continueHyundai E&C received a contract valued at 746 million dollars, or approximately 840 billion won, from Saudi Aramco to build an ethane deep recovery facility(EDRF). To win the mega-sized project, the builder entered a fierce competition with global leading construction companies such as UK’s Petrofac and Spain’s Tecnicas Reunidas. Korea’s primary builder obtained the EDRF project on the turn-key basis on October 27, 2016, which was attributed to the successful completion of the Karan gas treatment plant project in 2012 and the Khurais gas treatment plant project in 2009 in Saudi Arabia. The EDRF project is aimed to construct a facility in which a demethanizer is employed to separate natural gas liquids including ethane and propane from 1.4 billion cubic feet of liquefied gas produced in the Uthmaniyah region for a day. The project is considered as an extension of the Uthmaniyah Gas Plant which has operated in the area for over four decades. Most proudly, the construction site installed the demethanizer in only four hours. In order to install the 820-ton, 75-meter column, the workers undertook tandem lifting by using two cranes. After examining the construction process, manager of the client’s gas management sector was so impressed that he sent a letter to plant manager of the Uthmaniyah Gas Plant and PMT (Project Management Team) that read: “I have watched many gas plant projects, but this is the first time for me to see such a challenging construction work was completed at a stroke.”The employees working at the construction site also feel proud of using ConXtech. The first of its kind among the construction projects conducted by Saudi Aramco drew huge attention from the client. ConXtech employs automated manufacturing technologies to deliver modular and typically brace-free structures. ConXtech guarantees a high construction productivity compared to the conventional steel-related methods by offering steelframe building designs using the minimized amount of construction materials. The EDRF project contributes to raising status of Hyundai E&C in one of the richest countries in the Middle East by overcoming a lot of obstacles. It is expected that the EDRF construction site lays the solid foundation for the builder to win additional lucrative projects in the country.
