Senior secured loan of up to USD 70 million to ACWA Power Sazagan Solar 1 LLC (the “Sazagan 1 SPV”). The Loan to the Sazagan 1 SPV will finance the development, design, construction and operation of a 500MW solar photovoltaic power plant and 501MWh battery energy storage systems (“BESS”) located in the Samarkand region in Uzbekistan. This is a landmark project for Uzbekistan as it introduces a 501MWh of BESS capacity, which helps the grid to mitigate the intermittency of renewables. The Project is expected to result in significant environmental benefits through introduction of 500MW of new renewable energy capacity corresponding to a reduction of CO2 emissions.
