MIGA issued four guarantees totaling $11.34 million to Euromedic Diagnostics BV (Euromedic) of the Netherlands for its $12.6 million equity investment in SC Euromedic Romania s.r.l. of Romania. The guarantees are for a period of seven years and provide coverage against the risk of breach of contract. The project involves the establishment and operation of four diagnostic centers by SC Euromedic Romania s.r.l., based on a public-private partnership with the national health care service. The diagnostic centers will provide MRI, computer, tomography, bone densi-tometer, ultrasound, and stress tests diagnostic services. Euromedic's health care services should make a significant contribution to Romania's social services infrastructure by offering diagnostic services to a broad range of patients. In addition, the four clinics will hire about 240 permanent medical employees and managers. The local annual procurement for goods and services for the four clinics is expected to total $2.1 million. Government tax and fee revenue from Euromedic's operations is expected to total around to $1 million annually.
