Scenic East Reservoir Rehabilitation Project

As part of EBMUD’s infrastructure renewal program, the Scenic East Reservoir located at the end of Maplewood Drive, Blackhawk will be upgraded. The existing 3.9 million gallon (MG) steel will get improvements to improve water quality and reduce maintenance costs. Workplan and schedule: The project calls to demolish the steel roof on the 3.9 MG reservoir; install additional course of steel to raise tank height; install wind girder, aluminum dome roof, access stairs, and fall protection; abrasive blast and re-coat the interior and exterior and dispose of hazardous materials. The project will also rehabilitate the valve vault; demolish vault cover and vault piping; install aluminum cover, mechanical piping, valves, appurtenances, buried pipe improvements, solar panel, fencing, radio antennae, and other electrical improvements; repave reservoir site. During the completion of the reservoir, residents can expect to hear and see hauling trucks and equipment required for grading. Allowable work hours for this project are: • Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. There are no anticipated water service interruptions associated with this project. The Scenic East Reservoir is part of a project that includes three additional reservoirs upgrade which includes, Acorn Reservoir, Derby Reservoir, and Scenic Reservoir. The active construction period for the Scenic East Reservoir project will be from March 2022 to the summer of 2023. Schedule is subject to change.
