Schiwago Film GmbH, led by CEOs Martin Lehwald and Marcos Kantis, is an independent film production company based in Berlin. The company’s philosophy is rooted in realizing ambitious, sophisticated, and diverse projects, as well as fostering close collaboration with writers and directors from the very early stages of film development. Since its founding in 2000, the company has made a name for itself in the national and international arthouse film scene with productions such as INSIDE, LARA, STYX, OH BOY, MUXMÄUSCHENSTILL, TOUBAB, AMERICA, and NO DOGS ALLOWED. The Creative Europe Media Slate will enable Schiwago Film to take the next step in its development towards a stronger European orientation, a process the company began several years ago. With five outstanding projects for which it holds majority producer status, Schiwago Film is poised to develop and produce films with broader international reach across a wide range of traditional and new platforms and territories. These five selected projects are part of a strategic direction essential for the company’s future. Each project allows us to either strengthen a targeted area or advance ongoing development to the next level. Our goal is to become even more ambitious in our core competencies and elevate our productions to a new level of quality. At the same time, we intend to explore new distribution channels to reach broader audiences, remaining innovative and forward-thinking as we have done for the past 25 years. In addition to moderate growth in our in-house team, particularly in development, this slate will benefit a diverse pool of creatives across Europe. It will enable us to significantly expand our co-production segment by working with both established and new partners across the continent. This expansion will encompass not only economic and content-based growth but also socially relevant and collaborative partnerships, fostering diverse and impactful projects on significant topics.
