Description
Description | The Equity Group Foundation (EGF), the foundation of the Kenyan Equity Bank, runs a nationwide scholarship program for secondary school students that enables high-performing but particularly disadvantaged children to advance socially through education. The EGF scholarship program is to be co-financed and further developed as part of this FC project. The aim of the project is to promote a new generation of leaders. Children in need with outstanding achievements are actively supported through scholarships, mentoring programs and extracurricular events on the topic of social transformation processes. This is intended to build up a new elite of responsibility in the medium term. The EGF scholarship program is already being co-financed in a pilot component as part of the current FC education program (BMZ No. 2010 65 838). The plan is now to build on the experience gained from the pilot approach. In the future, state and semi-state institutions and private companies are to be involved in the implementation of the program even more than before. A special focus is to be placed on the inclusion of German actors in the project. The volume of the EGF secondary school scholarship program is currently around USD 60 million. The Federal Development Fund is currently contributing EUR 2.2 million to the program. As part of this project, the program is to be co-financed with a further EUR 4.0 million to EUR 4.2 million (including SFF funds). SBF funds are also to be used for the conception and, if necessary, implementation of additional activities that allow other actors and institutions to be involved in the program. |
