School Ventilation Upgrades

The project is to upgrade ventilation systems at 5 schools across PEI. West Kent Elementary, St. Jean Elementary, Cardigan Consolidated, Alberton Elementary, and O’Leary Elementary schools. The addition of Energy Recovery Ventilators (ERVs) will increase fresh air exchanged within the schools and will bring the ventilation rates up to current code requirements. Furthermore, the addition of a designed ventilation system allows for fresh air to be properly introduced into the building, while simultaneously conditioning the air to increase occupant comfort. The specific utilization of ERVs allows for exhaust air to pre-heat incoming fresh air, and reduce the energy cost associated with conditioning the fresh air. The new systems will Increased fresh air exchange throughout the schools and decrease Energy Costs for conditioning fresh air, compared to fresh air infiltration.
