Schools rehabilitation PPP project in Medellín

The scope of the project involves the rehabilitation of 13 official educational institutions in Medellín, in the north-east of Colombia. Private partners will be responsible for their operation, maintenance, equipment, replacement of equipment and provision of services; such as cleaning, surveillance for a period of 18 years, and technological support for four years. The new facilities will improve the quality of education of about 11,280 students.Under this scheme, there will be four completely new schools, to be constructed in Finca El Tirol and La Aurora, in Nuevo Occidente; the lot located in front of the IE Luis Carlos Galán - Section School Niño Jesús de Praga, in Villa Hermosa; and the plot in front of the IE Rodrigo Lara Bonilla, in Manrique.Additionally, eight schools will be demolished and totally rebuilt: Alfonso López educational institution, IE Maestro Arenas B. and IE Rodrigo Correa Palacio, in Castilla; IE Gilberto Álzate Avendaño, in Aranjuez; IE José Horacio Betancur and the IE Presbítero Juan J. Escobar, in the San Cristóbal district; IE Luis López de Mesa, in Robledo and the IE Marco Fidel Suárez, in Laureles-Estadio.Also, the El Diamante educational institution in Robledo will be expanded.
