Description | The Schunnemunk Rail Trail Project is developing a 10-mile, 101-acre unused railbed along the former Erie-Lackawanna Railroad corridor into a split-use trail for walking, cycling, and other non-motorized use. The trail will connect the Town of Cornwall to Camp LaGuardia in Chester, linking with train stations and other trails. Phase 1 includes a 2-mile stretch from Camp LaGuardia in Chester to Craigsville Road, expected to be completed in fall 2026. Phase 2 covers Craigsville Road to the base of the Moodna Trestle, with construction planned for 2027-2028. |
