Description

Description

Strengthening the feeling of belonging to Europe Jean Mounès Middle School, 750 students with a heterogeneity of the school population, welcomes a “ULIS” scheme for pupils with specific needs who have behaviour problems. The opening to EU projects undoubtedly acts as a cement of the students’ overflowing energies and builds values. Promoting the EU as a place to exercise democracy Strengthening the feeling of being a full European eco-citizen The students are enthusiastic about the environment as soon as they work on the concrete situation. Taking action: raising local awareness about the European eco-citizenship project Through this project, we develop the confidence of our students in the future of the environment and thus avoid eco-anxiety by helping them to communicate their work to a wide audience and making them aware their efforts will count. Aiming at strengthening the European feeling Conducting a shared reading aloud of Laurent Gaudé’s book Nous l’Europe, Banquet des Peuples, enables the students to understand that all of us in Europe share a geography, a history and a democracy of the peoples. This represents an almost unique opportunity on our planet! A meeting with European guest speakers makes it possible to target eco-citizenship. Visits to the European institutions in Brussels (Parlementarium, Hemicycle and European House) are privileged and significant events and moments that allow our pupils to feel European eco-citizens To raise awareness of the EU as a place to exercise democracy Promoted voting. All seventh-grade students take part in an E3D (environment) literary prize and democratically elect their favorite book with voting booth, ballot box and ballot counting as in a polling station. In our project, we will link this democratic exercise with that in favour of the EU. Acting to raise local awareness of the European Eco-Citizenship Project The students communicate to our educational community and the general public.
