The hospital in Longyan is a general hospital with a current capacity of 1,200 beds. One of its specialties is oncology. In response to the constantly increasing demand, a second hospital complex was built 5 km west of the existing hospital. The new hospital building was opened in August 2013, increasing total capacity to 1,500 beds. A deeper focus of the new hospital section is traditional Chinese medicine and its interface with Western medicine. A training center for around 800 students was also built, but is not yet equipped. The requested loan will now be used to purchase medical equipment that will be used to equip the new buildings, as well as some new extensions to the old building and the training center. Overall, the bed capacity will be increased to 2,000.
