Second International Airport near South Bengaluru

planned

Karnataka is studying new locations for a second international airport near Bengaluru, focusing on the southern part of the city near Kanakapura Road and Bannerghatta Road. The Airports Authority of India has highlighted key considerations such as distance from Kempegowda International Airport, land availability, and flight path regulations. The project is driven by rising passenger numbers at the existing airport, which has exceeded its designed capacity. A consultant will be appointed to study three possible sites, assessing cost, road access, noise impact, land needs, and flying rules before a final decision is made. The project is expected to cost around Rs 10,000 crore.
