SECOND MUNICIPAL INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT PROJECT

The Second Municipal Infrastructure Development Project in the West Bank and Gaza, builds on the on-going municipal development operation, and, focuses on high priority infrastructure rehabilitation, and municipal capacity building. The components will: 1) support physical improvement, and rehabilitation of regional roads, as well as village, and municipal water supply, and sewerage works. It includes two sub-components which provide technical assistance for the design, and supervision of works; 2) support capacity building in the Ministry of Public Works (MPW), through the development of road maintenance programs, and local government capacity building. Sub-components include accounting systems reform, and development programs for selected municipalities; 3) provide essential operational support to MPW, and to the Ministry of Local Government, through improved monitoring, administrative, and reporting practices.
