Second Rural Electrification

The objective of the Second Rural Electrification Project is to increase access to electricity in the rural areas of Peru on an efficient and sustainable basis. There are three components to the project, the first component being rural electrification subprojects. This component will support investment in infrastructure by electricity distribution companies to provide electricity services to about 42,500 households, small enterprises and community facilities throughout Peru (benefiting about 174,000 people). The second component is the Technical Assistance (TA) for rural electrification. Finally, the third component is the Project Management. Under this component, the General Directorate of Rural Electrification (DGER) through the project unit will carry out the following project management activities: technical unit to evaluate and supervise investment subprojects and manage TA; project management and administration (procurement and financial management); and (c) monitoring and evaluation, including of safeguards.
