Description | The Selemela Solar Park is a large-scale solar energy facility located about 15km outside Lichtenburg in North West, South Africa. Developed by the Sola Group, it comprises two solar plants generating about 200 megawatts per hour for the Tronox wheeling deal, with a third plant in commissioning phase to supply another 100MW to African Rainbow Minerals. The project operates under a wheeling agreement using Eskom's transmission network to supply renewable energy to factories in KwaZulu-Natal and the Western Cape. It was constructed under a self-build agreement with significant financial backing and involves collaboration with Eskom and the National Transmission Company South Africa (NTCSA). |
