The project involves a $152 million state-funded runway relocation at Selfridge Air National Guard base to prepare for new aircraft platforms, including the F-15EX and KC-46 tankers. This state funding is expected to unlock $792 million in federal military construction funding for additional facilities and infrastructure upgrades at the base. The runway project includes lengthening and relocating the 9,000-foot runway to the north, away from residential homes, and extending two taxiways. The upgrades aim to ensure the base is ready for the arrival of new aircraft by 2028 and to secure the base's future mission.
