Description | The Tampa Hillsborough Expressway Authority is undertaking a $362 million expansion of the Selmon Expressway starting May 2026. The project adds one lane in each direction from west of Himes Avenue to east of Florida Avenue, upgrades 26 bridges including a major overhaul of the Hillsborough River Bridge, and reconstructs the entire stretch within existing right-of-way. Noise walls will be installed in residential areas, and new spaces will be created underneath the expressway to connect neighborhoods. Construction is scheduled to run through 2030 with lane closures at night only. |
