Zimbabwe Platinum Mines (Zimplats) has commissioned 35 MW of solar PV capacity at its Selous Metallurgical Complex as the first phase of a total of 185 MW. The solar plant will offset approximately 8% of Zimplats’ electricity needs at the plant. Additionally, a new 38MW furnace was commissioned, which will triple Zimplats’ smelting capacity to 380,000 tonnes of concentrate annually.
