Description
Description | The Senakw project is an Indigenous-led housing development on the traditional lands of the Squamish Nation in Vancouver. It is planned to comprise 6,000 rental units across 11 towers, with 1,200 units rented at below-market rates. The project started in 2019 and is anticipated to be completed by 2030. The development received a $1.4-billion low-interest construction loan from the federal government in 2022, the largest of its kind in Canada. The project partnership has been restructured, with OPTrust becoming a 50-50 partner with the Squamish Nation for the first two phases, and the Squamish Nation assuming full control for the subsequent phases. |
