Senegal - "Aéroport International Blaise-Diagne"

The project consists in the construction of a new airport named Blaise Diagne International Airport (AIBD) which will replace the actual Dakar international airport. As part of a planning policy for the capital city, this new infrastructure shall solve the problems related to the location of the actual airport in an area surrounded by growing development. Blaise Diagne International Airport will be situated in the administrative region of Thies, in Diass village, 45 km from Dakar. AIBD will have a capacity of 3 million passengers and will include the following facilities: a 42,000 m² terminal, a 3.5 km long runway with taxiways, 30 aircraft parking spaces with 6 gate parking positions. A freight terminal, a Presidential pavilion, a Hajj terminal, as well as other components. The project should contribute to the expanding influence of the Senegalese capital by offering new airport transportation infrastructure promoting free movement of goods and people.
