Description

Description

"The White Rose was an important resistance group around the siblings Hans and Sophie Scholl, which called on the German population to resist National Socialism. The aim of the project of the Bavarian State Ministry of Justice is to permanently preserve the memory of the history of the White Rose's resistance to National Socialism and to use the fate of members of the resistance group to make people aware of the perversion of the rule of law by the National Socialist regime in order to draw lessons from this for the present and the future. The Bavarian State Ministry of Justice is conceptualizing and designing an exhibition for this purpose. The exhibition will be installed in Room 253 of the Munich Palace of Justice, where the second trial of members of the White Rose before the ""Volksgerichtshof"" took place on April 19, 1943, and which is still partially furnished with original furniture. A particular focus of the project is to examine the role of the Nazi judiciary and the responsibility of Nazi jurists, thus shedding light on the perpetrator's side of the story. The exhibition will be ceremonially opened and presented to the public at a kick-off event. Afterwards, the exhibition will be presented to the project's special target groups in guided tours. In addition to young people, the project focuses on members of the police and judiciary, and thus on the people who bring our current constitutional state to life in their everyday work. It is particularly important to raise awareness of the central elements of fair justice and state power among these multipliers. A police officer, trainee lawyer, judge or public prosecutor who consciously considers the history of the White Rose and the role of the National Socialist judiciary and deals with the responsibility of the judiciary can concretely apply this valuable experience in his everyday professional life and in this way contribute even better to the success of our constitutional state."
