The BEC-EU project (Being an European Citizen – EU) aims to enhance European literacy and active citizenship among students and teachers at Colégio Maria Droste. Aligned with the Erasmus+ Jean Monnet Actions – Learning EU Call, the project integrates European Union-related education into the school curriculum, fostering a greater understanding of EU policies, institutions, and values. The initiative includes teacher training, innovative classroom methodologies, thematic weeks, debates, environmental projects, and study visits, ensuring a dynamic and interactive approach to European education. Students will engage in European Parliament simulations, collaborative international projects, and sustainability initiatives, linking their learning to real-world EU policies. By implementing a structured and sustainable model, the project guarantees that European citizenship education continues beyond its three-year duration, influencing future generations of students and educators. Through partnerships with local institutions, European networks, and digital dissemination, BEC-EU will expand its impact beyond the school, promoting a stronger, more engaged, and informed European community.
